PVC-covered Aluminium Conductors to BS 6485

PVC-covered aluminium conductors are developed primarily to protect telecommunication lines which are crossed by power lines and to protect the public from low voltage lines in case of accidental contact for short periods.

PVC-covered overhead power lines are useful in corrosive atmospheres and for preventing faults due to birds and trees. The conductors are sometimes referred to as "Weather Resistant Line Wire". It is all aluminium stranded conductors (AAC) over which a covering is applied.

The insulation thickness of Type 8 is intended for use where the operating voltage does not exceed 650 V rms between any two conductors or 250 V rms between any conductor and earth.

Stranded aluminium wires (base on BS 215-1) or stranded hard drawn copper wires (based on BS 7884) or aluminium conductor steel reinforce (base on BS 215-2)
