OPGW (Optical Fibre Composite Overhead Ground wire)

 

 

OPGW is a composite wire, which serves as a conventional overhead ground wire, with the added benefit of providing high-capacity and reliable fibre optic communications to service current and future needs.

The construction of central tube OPGW is a combination of tubular structure with optical fibers in it, surrounded by layers of aluminium clad steel wires and aluminium / aluminium alloys wires.

In the stranded tube OPGW, the central wire is aluminium clad wire and the tubular structure with optical fibers in it will be positioned on the 1st layer of helically stranded overall construction.

Each of the structure has its own advantage over the other.

Various design is available to suit specific customer's need.

An optical ground wire provides the following features :

• ground wire protection
• lightning protection for overhead power lines
• a fibre optic cable for high peformance telecommunication network

The fiber employed in our OPGW complies to the latest edition of ITU-T G.652.C specification
